
‘The River Speaks’ celebrates the Water Of Leith, a beautiful river that flows through Edinburgh, providing a calm oasis in a busy city.
And what better place to perform it than at Leith Festival!?
Join songwriter and choir leader Kim Edgar to learn and then perform her brand new song, commissioned by Creative Lives and written in collaboration with six choirs based along the the Water Of Leith.
Everyone is welcome, and varying levels of confidence and experience will be accommodated in the arrangement. You’ll feel connected, uplifted and hopeful!
Venues: The song will be taught at Leith Community Centre in Newkirkgate, then performed at Leith Festival Gala stage on Leith Links
Timings:
9.30-10am: Arrive
10am-12pm: Song learning
12-12.30pm: Lunch break (please bring a packed lunch)
12.30-1.30pm: Rehearsal
1.30-2pm: Short walk to Leith Links*
2pm: Song performance on the Gala Stage
Cost: Please pay what you can. We suggest £5, £10, £15 or £20 depending on what you can afford. Please select the relevant amount when booking. **
Resources: Sheet music can be emailed to you in advance, if you would like to get a sense of the song – but there will be enough time to learn it from scratch on the day. You can also listen to it via the video on the weblink!
